The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS)’s, Division of Child Support Services is seeking to hire a motivated candidate to serve as an Office Coordinator assigned to our Kane County team. Under the direction of the Clerical Supervisor, this Spanish speaking position will perform a variety of complex technical office support function such as drafting correspondence, reports and responding to telephone inquiries related to the Kane County program. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of office practices, procedures, and programs with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs complex and specialized procedures to determine unpaid support amounts or to otherwise dispose of delinquency referrals
  • Provides customer service to clients coming into the office
  • Gathers information and prepares arrearage calculations for cases with Non-Custodial Parent (NCPs) which meet established delinquency guidelines
  • Gathers information and issues referrals for accounts in need of adjustment to designated accounting staff and referrals for cases in need of legal action to attorney for Child Support Specialists
  • Translates information into Spanish for people who cannot read or speak English
  • Establishes and monitors tracking procedures to monitor status of enforcement activities, income withholding services, and other work in progress
  • Keyboards letters, forms, records, and other documents relative to Income Withholding operations
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two years of related office experience, or two years of independent business experience
  • Requires the ability to keyboard 30 words per minute
  • Requires the ability to speak and write Spanish at a colloquial skill level

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to pass a national background check prior to employment due to accessing confidential federal tax information
  • Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop and/or cell phone
